With over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and airline industries, Dermot has a rare understanding of the synergies and complexities of both the commercial and engineering aspects of the satellite communications business.
He is an aeronautical engineer by background, and has delivered complex, multi-million dollar international engineering programmes across a variety of aircraft systems, more recently specialising in in-flight connectivity systems. He has brought innovative technologies to market with leading aerospace companies such as Airbus, Meggitt, Parker Hannifan, and Inmarsat.
Leveraging his experience from across the aviation supply chain, he has an expansive understanding of an airlines technical and commercial requirements, operating models and risk appetite. He joined Eutelsat OneWeb, the world’s first integrated multi-orbit satellite communications network, in 2023 to lead the market development for commercial aviation in the Europe region. He leverages his passion for innovation and excellence in the aviation sector, and his network of contacts and relationships, to develop bespoke solutions to enhance passenger and inflight connectivity – whilst making it commercially viable for airlines.
